How to Change the GS Auto Clicker Hotkey (F8) to Any Key

The hotkey is how you start and stop GS Auto Clicker — F8 by default. Change it when F8 is already used by your game, when your laptop hides F-keys behind Fn, or when you want start/stop on a mouse-reachable key. It takes ten seconds.

How to rebind the hotkey

  1. Open GS Auto Clicker. On the main window, click the hotkey button — the button that shows the current key (“F8” by default, next to the “Press F8 to Click” label).
  2. The program waits for your next key press. Press the key (or combination it accepts) that you want to use.
  3. The button now shows your key. Test it: hover over a blank area and press it — clicking starts; press again — clicking stops.

Which key should you pick?

ChoiceWhyWatch out for
F6 / F9Close to F8’s feel, rarely bound in gamesOP Auto Clicker uses F6 — irrelevant unless you run both
A numpad keyEasy to hit without lookingNeeds NumLock state awareness on some keyboards
Scroll Lock / PauseAlmost never used by games or WindowsMissing on many laptop keyboards
A letter keyConvenient in desktop workWill fire while you type — avoid for office automation

Hotkey still not responding?

  • In a game: the game probably runs with higher privileges. Run GS Auto Clicker as administrator — full diagnosis in F8 hotkey not working.
  • Key is captured by another app: screen recorders, overlays (Discord, GeForce Experience) and other clickers grab global hotkeys. Close the rival app or pick another key.
  • Laptop Fn behavior: if your F-keys default to media functions, either hold Fn or change the BIOS/UEFI “Action Keys” setting — or simply rebind to a non-F key as above.
